As an Emacs user, I have come up to view the world, as streams of text. We understand most of things by language or words. In fact, when you pull all the superficial “visuals” stuff out of things, you realise its text all the way.
Something similar happens with music these days. There are a myriad players that keep “cleverly” shorted playlist for you to play. But if you think deeply, playlist are just streams of text and Emacs its a master at managing text.
EMMS is a package (or multiple packages in one) that Help you with that. It delegates the actual playing and extracting metadata to other programs that you are supposed to have installed on the system. Ones everything it’s setup, you manage the playlists in Emacs.
